The Lough

Legend of the Lough- Legend has it that long ago there was a king called Corc whose palace stood where the Lough is. In the middle of the castle grounds was a spring of water. The King was afraid it would run dry so he built a wall around it and wouldn’t let anyone near it except his daughter. One night the King threw a party and told his daughter to fetch some water using a special golden goblet and take a handsome prince to accompany her. When she had filled the goblet, the princess found it was too heavy and fell into the well. The prince rushed back for help but the water rose so fast that it filled the entire green valley. It is said that, to this day you can still view the tall towers of the palace and music can be heard on a quiet night.
