With a name like Brosnan in my family, it is not surprising that I have a great fondness for Kerry and Tralee. Having climbed Carrauntoohil at the age of 5 and having spent many a summer in Murioch, Dingle as a teenager in Irish College and now with parents living on the Ring of Kerry the fondness just grows stronger. For any Irish person living abroad the pull to home is strong.

My amazing grandmother hailed from Tralee and I absolutely adored her. She was charming and elegant and very beautiful and confident. Being a Brosnan from Tralee I am sure gave some strength to all these qualities.

The surname Brosnan was first found in Kerry before 1800 and I am now going to send a message to “My Kerry Ancestry” to hopefully find out more!

My parents are now living under the watchful eye of Carrauntoohil on the Ring of Kerry and I am lucky to be able to spend time is the beautiful wild countryside and visit Tralee often! For anyone who has not visited ….. if you are going to Ireland you must visit here! The people alone are a reason to visit but when you add in the awe inspiring scenery, the green of Ireland and the stunning Dingle and Tralee Bay and the Wild Atlantic Way you will realise it is a very special place!
