Cork City

Courthouse, Washington St

The Paine Brothers designed this building in 1830. It is a broad Corinthian Portico raised on a platform of 11 steps. Over the Pediment is a bronze group representing Justice, supported by Law and Mercy, and backed by a large copper dome, its entrance is very imposing. The Courthouse was recently renovated and was reopened for the City of Culture in 2005.
