One mile from Tralee, it is known as the gateway to the Dingle Peninsula.
In famine times many people left for America from here on emigrant ships
that sailed from the pier adjacent to the windmill. There is now a steam
train running between Blennerville and Tralee. The Blennerville Windmill,
with its unique location and architectural merit, makes it one of the most
interesting windmills in Western Europe. Built in 1780 by Sir Rowland Blennerhasset,
it was restored to full working order in 1984/85. It is 70 feet high.
